QUALIFICATIONS

When it comes to your mental health, experience matters.

PSYCHOTHERAPIST

Trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have been providing counselling and psychotherapy in Guelph since 1997. I also have over 35 years’ experience in designing and facilitating groups in interpersonal growth and communication, including assertive communication, and structured experiential exercises.

EDUCATION

I received a BA Honours degree in Psychology from Carleton University in Ottawa (1992) and a Master’s of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Guelph’s Couple and Family Therapy Program (1994). Since graduation I have completed additional therapy training in Canada, the USA and Australia, in Narrative Approaches to Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR (not practicing), Hypnosis (not certified), and Sexuality.

REGULATORY AND PROFESSIONAL BODIES

In 2009 the Minister of Health and Long Term Care for Ontario appointed me to the transitional Council for the College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario (CRPO). The College was proclaimed into law in April 2015. In 2015 and 2018 I was elected to serve on the College Council, during which time I served as Chair of the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Commitee. Previously I have chaired, the Professional Practice Committee, Quality Assurance Committee, served on numerous other committees including Executive Committee and the Colleges Task Group on the Controlled Act of Psychotherapy and as as subject matter expert on Psychotherapy.

In June 2019 I resigned my seat on Council.
