All consultations are by appointment only.  Appointments are generally for one hour, though this can be negotiated to be longer or shorter. Couples often prefer and appreciate a 1.5 hour session and sometimes children and adolescents prefer and appreciate a half hour session.  

Most consultations are conducted in office.  There have been situations were consultations have been conducted in clients homes.  Telephone and e-mail consultations can also be arranged.

Sessions can be once a week though this is rare to every other week, once a month, or on an as need basis.  How often a person, family or couple comes is generally discussed at the first session, and again varies depending on the presenting problem. 

Some recent Canadian research suggests that on average people see a family therapist for 10-12 sessions.*  The number of sessions varies depending on the presenting issues and the motivation to change. the average person will spend bnumber of sessions a person will spend in therapy is 1be2 s sessions
